Who are we expecting this time? How should I know? we’ll see when they arrive. But where do they come from? They’re not even familiar with our Sheikh. They are coming to visit. They all know your Sheikh grandfather. How come? You’ll understand when the time comes. Our lodge is one of the beacons of our Pir Ahmed Yesevi’s order. Not only ours but from Turkistan to Rumelia, our beacons shine. They are all bonded. By the heart. That’s how they know each other. Without seeing each other. Peace be upon you, Dervish Effendi. And upon you, fellows. These are not them, these are soldiers. From where and to where are you going? From Him, we come and to Him, we go. May you have your union, then. Union has its way and there is no union without a way, Hu, my Sheikh.

Illa hu. We have guests from Rumelia, my Sheikh. Hu, my Sheikh. Ella hu. Welcome, my Slave Yusuf. No need. Durdan’s son, Huseyin, from the Karaman family. We pray for your benevolence, my Sheikh. With your service, Allah willing. Arslantekin, son of Konya’s Hadji Mesut. We pray for your benevolence, my Sheikh. With your service, Allah willing. Hazel’s son, Bekir, from the land of Niksar. We pray for your benevolence, my Sheikh. With your service, Allah willing. Hasan Ali’s son, Ahmet, from Antalya… We pray for your benevolence, my Sheikh. With your service, Allah willing. My Effendi, I have brought tribute from Saltuk Baba. He has gifts for your highness. We reckon you have some for him, too. We came here to deliver what is sent and collect what you are to send. Well, well, Saltuk Baba.

Dervishes do not do any deed without meaning. It’s from Varna, land of Bulgaria, my Sheikh. Honey. Do your deeds with sweet tongues, says our Yellow Saltuk Baba. Adem Effendi you take care of our guests. This way. What is this ambition, Yunus Effendi? So If you were offered what we have been offered I am afraid you would give up your faith. What is greater than faith that you have been offered, my pir? Do you think you can wash off every sin with eloquence, Yunus Effendi? The sin is ours. Then why are you in the lodge? Go write your poems. Be a poet. We are where we are supposed to be, my pit Where we are and where we go is beside our Sheikh. But we wish that God will not do us apart. So If we are mistaken we should question ourselves. Thanks to Allah.

We have no other desire. If we are mistaken, then you should make it apparent by your word and not your behavior, my fellow. Do not make us nose around for some divinity in your hollow poems. So How hollow can a poem be that a poet’s words are hollow, my fellow? Our matter is not to embroider our words, my fellow. But Our desire is to be plain and clear. If there is a mistake we should question it. “When I lay sick when angels come and ask me who my Creator is what am I to do, my Allah? But When they put me in my grave and turn back seven steps when the questioners come in what am I to do, my Allah?

So When they ask me who my Creator is the day is black then they ask who my Creator is what am I to do, my Allah? This is what you do in return? Your guard was there too. A woman’s guard is her modesty. So There’s no use tailing an immodest woman with an army, let alone a guard. I asked you, who were you with? They are lying. It is slander. At least die righteously, say you regret it. Die righteously, you unchaste woman. The dervishes from Turkistan did not even know my Sheikh grandfather.
